Certified Pharmacy Technician Educator (CPTEd) Practice Test

Assessments in pharmacy education are about measuring what a student knows, what they can do, and how they conduct themselves as a professional. This means evaluating knowledge (drug pharmacology, therapy, dosing), skills (dispensing accuracy, calculations, compounding, use of pharmacy systems), and professional behaviors (communication with patients, ethical reasoning, teamwork, patient safety). Examinations test understanding and recall, while practical assessments—such as dispensing tasks, simulated patient encounters, OSCEs, and case-based scenarios—show how well a student applies knowledge, performs procedures, and demonstrates professional conduct in real-world-like situations. Relying on attendance or non-performance factors like personal background or social media usage does not adequately demonstrate competence to practice pharmacy safely and effectively.
